Alisa Newman Hood is Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Excelerate Energy, a market leader in flexible LNG solutions. Previously, Alisa served as General Counsel of Akfel Commodities, parent company of the largest private importer of natural gas in Turkey, and prior to that, as General Counsel of Aluminium Bahrain. She began her legal career in the energy/project finance practice at White & Case LLP in New York. Since 2007, Alisa has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown Law, teaching a seminar on the international energy industry.


From 2012 to 2016, she served as senior advisor to the US Special Envoy for International Energy Affairs at the State Department. She has published a number of op-eds and articles on energy-related topics, including in The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, Los Angeles Times, and China Daily. She was previously a term member and is currently a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
